Social Media Revolution 2011
Part of the world’s most watched Social Media video series; “Social Media Revolution” by Erik Qualman. Based on #1 International Best Selling Book Socialnomics by Erik Qualman. This is a shorter version that includes new social media statistics for 2011.
This is one topic I hear every day; why social media, I have a blog and website isn’t that good enough? My answer to that is plain and simple and this is how I explain it; Let’s put this in perspective in retro marketing terms. You have a beautiful office for your company, at an easy to find location and offer great services. You have created strong informational packets that describe key details about what you offer, why you are different and where your company is located, but don’t mail them out. How do you expect potential clients to hear about you, how do they know what you offer, or what your about?
This is the same issue with just being comfortable with a website and blog. If you write great content and update your blog often you may get lucky and end up on the second page of Google. You may get even more lucky if a potential client goes to the second page of Google and clicks on the link to your website or blog, but again chances of that happening are slim, so hopefully you are okay with a client once every 6 months to a year.
This is where “Why Social Media” comes into play, and why it is such a vital piece of building your online presence. When building your brand online you are able to come into contact with people that you may never have had the chance to connect with. You are able to listen to what your competitors are doing, and what is and isn’t working for them. These are key informational pieces that you would never be able to gather without social media.
By using social media you have the chance to educate individuals on what you do, who you are, why you are different, and the most important part; why they should chose you! Social media gives you the power to drive traffic to different places on your website, or blog to build a solid reputation to your potential clients, so that they feel as if they already know you, which in turns makes it easier for them to trust you and what you have to offer.
Social Media is the wave of the future for educating the public on who you are and what you offer. Social media can also be easily implemented into your daily marketing plan. The question “Why Social Media” can be answered simply by this:
Do you want to create and foster an educational marketing plan for your business that can bring you a lifelong clientele or referral base? Or do you want to have a blog and website that just sits on your cyberspace shelf collecting dust? The social media choice is yours.
